[!TLDR] FastBots Essential moved from $19/month to $39/month in May 2026 — confirmed from fastbots.ai/pricing, snapshot 2026-05-19. saavos Starter is $19/month and didn't move. That doubles the entry price for one of the most-recommended budget chatbot picks of 2025. If you came here after searching for FastBots' old price, here's where things actually stand.
FastBots Essential used to cost around $16–19/month. In May 2026 it jumped to $39/month.
That's not a rounding change. That's the price of a different category of tool.
I run saavos, so I'm obviously not a neutral party here. But I think the most useful thing I can do is lay out what actually changed, who it matters to, and where each product in this price range genuinely wins. I'll tell you when FastBots at $39 is still the right call.
As of the 2026-05-19 snapshot from fastbots.ai/pricing:
The Essential tier includes 2 chatbots, 2,000 messages/month, live agent takeover, and WhatsApp/Instagram/Messenger/Slack integrations. The feature set at $39 is real. But the audience FastBots built its reputation with — founders who picked it specifically because of the $19 price — just had the math change.
Prior to May 2026, FastBots sat comfortably in the same price band as saavos ($19) and Botsonic ($19 annual). Now it's closer to Chatbase Standard territory. That's not a criticism of FastBots. It's a signal they're moving upmarket.
All prices confirmed from vendor pricing pages, May 2026:
| Tool | Entry paid tier | Price/month | Bots | Messages/month | AI model |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| saavos | Starter | $19 | 2 | 1,000 | Claude Sonnet 4.6 |
| Chatbase | Hobby | $32 | 2 | 500 credits | GPT-4o / Claude |
| FastBots | Essential | $39 | 2 | 2,000 | GPT-4o family |
| SiteGPT | Starter | $39 | 1 | 4,000 | GPT-4.1 |
| Botpress | Plus | $89 | ∞ | usage-based | GPT-4o |

The $19–$39 band now has one product in it at the entry paid tier. That's not a claim I'm making as a marketing exercise — it's what the pricing tables show right now. If it changes, I'll update this.
Not everyone cares about the $20 difference. Here's who does:
Pre-revenue founders testing tooling. Before you have any MRR, every monthly subscription has real weight. $19 versus $39 isn't a rounding error when you're deciding what to keep running. If you were on FastBots' free tier and were about to upgrade, the calculus just changed.
Founders who picked FastBots specifically because of the price. FastBots wrote a comparison post in April 2026 recommending itself as the "budget-sensible" pick in the category. That was accurate at $16–19. At $39, "budget-sensible" needs revisiting.
Founders who only need website FAQ deflection. FastBots' differentiators at $39 — live agent takeover, WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, Slack — are genuinely useful if you need them. But if your use case is "trained chatbot that answers questions on my website," you're paying for features you won't use.
I want to be direct about this, because "competitor raised prices, switch to me" posts are usually one-sided.
FastBots Essential at $39 is the right call if:
You need live agent takeover. A visitor chatting with the bot hits something complex, and a human can take over from the FastBots dashboard. saavos has no equivalent at any tier. If any percentage of your visitors need to reach a real person mid-chat — not just an email fallback — FastBots covers that job and nothing in the $19 tier does.
You need WhatsApp, Instagram, or Messenger. FastBots Essential includes multi-channel integrations from the entry tier. saavos is website-widget only. If your audience is on social channels and you want the same bot to answer DMs on WhatsApp and Messenger, FastBots is still the only entry-tier product that does this. Chatbase adds WhatsApp and Instagram at higher tiers but not the $32 Hobby.
You're pushing close to 2,000 messages/month. FastBots gives 2,000 messages at $39. saavos gives 1,000 at $19. The per-thousand math is identical ($19.50 vs $19), but the ceiling is different. If your site generates 1,200+ monthly chatbot messages, FastBots keeps you in one tier longer.
The $20 gap is real. But it only matters if the features that justify it are things you won't use.
One genuine differentiator and one pricing reality.
Claude Sonnet 4.6 as the default. saavos runs Anthropic's Claude Sonnet 4.6 on every paid conversation. FastBots runs GPT-4o family. For simple FAQ retrieval the model difference is minor. For nuanced multi-turn questions where a visitor is working through a decision — pricing edge cases, integration questions, troubleshooting — Claude Sonnet handles the complexity better. That's an observable difference if you test both against the same knowledge base on hard queries.
The price. $19 is $20 less than $39 every month, indefinitely. At $10k MRR that's negligible. At $0 MRR it's a real dollar amount.
No vendor comparison is honest without saying when each is the right call:
Pick saavos if: You need a trained chatbot on your website, your audience is English-speaking, your traffic generates under ~1,000 messages/month, and you don't need live agent handoff or social channel integrations. The Starter is $19/month, includes 2 bots, and has a forever-free tier (50 messages, no credit card, no expiry) if you want to test first.
Pick FastBots if: You need live agent takeover, or you need to reach visitors via WhatsApp/Instagram/Messenger, or your site traffic pushes past 1,000 chatbot messages monthly and you'd rather pay $39 than juggle two tiers.
Pick Chatbase ($32/month annual) if: You want model selection (GPT-5 variants alongside Claude), Notion sync, or you're building toward multi-channel support. The Hobby plan's 500 message credits is a lower ceiling than FastBots' 2,000, but the training flexibility is broader.
Pick SiteGPT ($39/month) if: You have a large multilingual audience (95+ languages) or a deep content library (1,000+ pages). SiteGPT's Starter message volume (4,000/month) is the highest in the $39 band, though it only includes 1 bot and has no free tier.
Here are the five questions that keep coming up when people research this move:
Does FastBots still have a free tier at $39? Yes. FastBots Free is still $0 — 1 bot, 50 messages/month. The increase affected the Essential paid tier only.
Did the feature set at FastBots Essential change when the price went up? The live agent takeover and multi-channel integrations (WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, Slack) were part of the Essential tier before and after the increase. The price moved; the feature configuration stayed. Source: fastbots.ai/pricing, May 2026.
Is there an annual discount on FastBots at $39? Yes. Annual billing brings the effective monthly rate to $32.50 ($390/year). That's closer to Chatbase Hobby annual territory. Source: fastbots.ai/pricing, May 2026.
What was FastBots' old price? FastBots Essential was $16–19/month before May 2026. The exact pre-increase monthly price was in the $16–19 range (records are a bit inconsistent on whether the price was $16/month annual or $19/month monthly at various points).
Can I switch from FastBots to saavos without losing training data? Your training data is just URLs and PDFs — nothing is locked in. The switch is: add the same URLs to saavos's dashboard, wait for training (5–10 minutes), replace the FastBots embed script tag with the saavos script tag. Conversation history doesn't transfer, but conversation history on a pre-revenue site rarely contains anything irreplaceable.
FastBots' pricing ladder now runs $39 / $89 / $199 / $399. That's a deliberate move upmarket toward business accounts, agencies, and resellers. The Reseller tier at $399 includes white-label and custom domains — features indie SaaS founders don't need.
This is not a company that's retreating. They're choosing a different customer. The implication for founders at the early stage: the "$19 FastBots" that people recommended in 2024 and early 2025 no longer exists. The product at $39 is good. It just serves a different budget assumption.
The entry-tier band used to be crowded. Right now it isn't. That may change — pricing in this category has moved fast in 2026. Check the current numbers before making a decision.
