XML Sitemap Generator

Paste a list of URLs and get a valid sitemap.xml — with changefreq, priority and lastmod — ready to copy or download.

— What it does

The XML Sitemap Generator is a free tool that turns a plain list of page URLs into a valid XML sitemap that search engines can crawl. It wraps every URL in a <urlset> with your chosen change frequency and priority, can stamp each entry with today as the lastmod date, and skips blank or invalid lines automatically. Everything runs in your browser, so your URLs are never uploaded.

  • Builds a spec-compliant <urlset> sitemap from one URL per line.
  • Set a default changefreq and priority, and optionally add today as lastmod.
  • Skips blank and invalid lines and shows a live valid-URL count.
  • Runs entirely in your browser — nothing is uploaded to any server.

How to use it

1

Paste your URLs

Add the full URLs of the pages you want indexed, one per line, including the https:// prefix.

2

Set the defaults

Choose a default change frequency and priority, and decide whether to include today as the lastmod date.

3

Copy or download sitemap.xml

The XML updates as you type. Copy it or download it as sitemap.xml and upload it to your site root.

Frequently asked

Are my URLs uploaded anywhere?
No. The sitemap is built entirely in your browser with JavaScript. Your URLs are never sent to a server, so it is safe to use for private or staging sites.
Where do I put the sitemap.xml file?
Upload it to the root of your domain (for example https://example.com/sitemap.xml) and reference it in your robots.txt with a Sitemap: line, then submit it in Google Search Console.
What do changefreq and priority actually do?
They are hints, not commands. changefreq suggests how often a page changes and priority (0.0–1.0) signals relative importance within your own site. Most search engines treat them loosely, so reasonable defaults are fine.
How many URLs can one sitemap hold?
A single XML sitemap can contain up to 50,000 URLs and must stay under 50 MB uncompressed. For larger sites, split the URLs across multiple sitemaps and list them in a sitemap index.
